The primary objective of this research is to explore the application of ship handling simulators(SHS) in planning navigation safety courses for super yachts. With the global popularity of super yachts, there will be a significant increase in maritime traffic density, especially in the Taiwan region recognized as a moderate-risk area by According to the “Maritime Casualty Review” data from the Lloyd‘s Register of Ships (LRS). Therefore, designing ship handling simulator teaching courses and related training can not only comply with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers(STCW) but also comprehensively train crew members to handle complex situations and simulations involving weather and sea conditions, enhancing the significance of safety training course planning and practical teaching.

This research course plan references existing maritime personnel education institutions and school ship handling simulator training courses. Modified Delphi Method was utilized with input from 9 experts in the yachting industry, academia, and navigation experts. We confirms that the ship handling simulator's equipment status and operational interface (4.63), along with emergency response capabilities (4.63), are crucial factors in planning teaching practices for super yachts. The simulator indeed enhances the safety awareness and professional skills of yacht operators, providing substantial risk education and practical training purposes.
